We may be distracted by many things when we consider our children at St. Vincent's and the people of Port-au-Prince. Visual cues, such as tent cities and unpaved roads, may lead us to negative thoughts, like clouds on a rainy day.
But the human drive to make music and beauty is not limited by these things. Despite the gray and dreary sky, and the struggles for our children in Haiti, we should not forget what is always there, just behind the clouds.
Music is also a part of the lives of the children at St. Vincent. The Handbell Choir includes many blind high-school students, and most of our recent groups have heard Mackenson play on his guitar. However, right now St. Vincent's School is struggling to pay for food for its children. Though we are looking for a big donor to handle this long term, for now it means raising food money month to month.
Please consider making a donation to feed these children for a short time. The WTHP would like to be able to sponsor the school for one month, which would take $6000, or $200/day. If you can be a part of this effort, please click the donate button at the top of the page. Your contribution will make a direct and vital difference in their lives. As Christians, we believe the Lord will provide, but that does not mean we believe bread will fall from the sky to the courtyard of St. Vincent. Sometimes we must allow ourselves to be a vehicle for his assistance and share out of our abundance an offering to God for the sake of his people.
Those who are generous are blessed, for they share their bread with the poor. -Proverbs 22:9
